UV inks and hologram stickers are some of the easiest things to fake and often actual give a false sense of security that an item is genuine. There are a number of companies that claim they have a type of code or mark that can not be duplicated but if an end user in the field has no way of verifying that mark then they tend to not be worth the high cost normally charged for such marks.
Every industry and item really needs to have its’ own specific techniques that normally starts with production with touch points throughout the supply chain. Although these processes have been around for many years a new buzzword that describes some of this would be Blockchain. With our 20 years of industrial marking, identification and tracking we have found best approach to brand protection and anti-counterfeiting tends to involve the use of several different technologies or layers of defense and detection.
Of course we can’t really describe how we do these things here or the bad guys would know. New technologies emerge every day and we monitor and independently evaluate the merits of these and how they may be best suited for use in our large toolbox of options to help clients get the best solutions for their specific needs.
